Alicia Keys says she is the “best wall builder that ever lived.” In a recent interview with “Blender” magazine, the singer blames her tendency to shut people out on her early days in music. She claims music producers tried to bed her, or use her talent to further their careers. Alicia says she began to build walls that kept everyone out of her personal feelings, including her mom and her manager. Last year, Alicia took a solo trip to Egypt to clear her head. She says of the need for the journey, quote, “I was hanging off the edge of a cliff. Something had to give, or I was gonna lose my mind.” The full interview with Alicia is in the current issue of “Blender,” on newsstands now.
Defiant rapper FOXY BROWN has slammed the officials who sentenced her to a year-long prison spell at New York’s notorious Riker’s Island jail, insisting the punishment did not match the crime.
Brown, real name Inga Marchand, was released four months early on Friday (18Apr08), and insisted her first priority was to find a church and thank God for supporting her.
Kanye West has filed legal papers in the estate of his mom, Donda, who tragically died after a plastic surgery procedure last November.
In the legal papers, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Donda’s assets are listed at $150,000. Interesting, since Donda worked as Kanye’s manager.
Donda died without a will. Kanye is the sole beneficiary, and has asked that family friend Shawn Gee, a music industry exec, be named as the co-administrator of the estate.
Rapper Foxy Brown was released from prison today, after serving eight months of her 12 month sentence:
“As soon as she was released from prison, she was greeted by her mother Judith Marchand and lawyer New York City Councilman Charles Barron, as well as hundreds of reporters and fans, some with posters and pink balloons, others with ‘Free Foxy Brown’ T-shirts. Brown wore a leather jacket, jeans, a black shirt, designer pumps and a stylish Fendi designer doo rag over her hair.
Brown’s entourage arrived in a fleet of luxury vehicles that included three Rolls Royce’s, a number of SUV’s and a Maybach, that was filled with clothes. Her family, friends, managers and a hair stylist and makeup artist were all part of the group of people that greeted Brown.”
